Learning Environment Action Plans (LEAPs)

Learning Environment Action Plans (LEAPs) are a new initiative of The Warren Alpert Medical School beginning in 2022.

Beginning in 2022, AMS implemented Learning Environment Action Plans (LEAPs) are an annual self-study tool for clinical departments to identify strengths, opportunities and challenges within their learning environment space with particular emphasis on mistreatment and microaggressions.

LEAPs are:

  • completed by each clinical department
  • reviewed and scored by the Committee on the Learning Environment
  • shared across the institution among stakeholders, including students, faculty, and administrators
  • compared to yearly LEAP Progress Reports ensuring forward momentum and accountability
  • used to identify areas AMS can better support departments to support a healthy learning environment

What does a LEAP look like?

Currently in draft stage, LEAPs are being reviewed by stakeholders to ensure they capture the information we need to help support a healthy learning environment.
